Project Description
This sweet couple set out to create their dream home. Raising four children and entertaining friends called for a comfortable, yet elegant home. The heart of the home is the great open living room and kitchen that are separated by a bold, wide arch. The adjoining dining room is wrapped with gorgeous French Doors leading out to terraces by the swimming pool & lawn. When Thomas saw the dining room plans, he called it “The Super Bowl of the house”.
The style of the home is ‘Modern Tudor’ with a custom mahogany entry that opens to a serene stairhall and flows into the living room with views to the swimming pool. Multi-paned windows with transoms give character and provide light-filled airiness.
This home is as functional as it is beautiful. The family enters from a Porte Cochere into a shiplap paneled hallway with a mudroom, kids’ powder room, laundry, & pantry. This makes it easy for the family to drop off backpacks and groceries on the way into the kitchen. We achieved the goal of wonderful storage and organizational spaces throughout the house.
The owners have a special retreat in their Calcutta marble bathroom. The focal point is a soaking tub alcove inspired by the homeowner’s vision for the bathroom. This custom home was a passion project for the homeowners and the design-build team.
