Danneel Park

Danneel Park - Woolf Architecture

Located on beautiful Danneel Park, the owners of this house wanted a front porch to enjoy the park view. To add the front porch in a way that looked original, we took the entire front portion of the roof off the existing house and reframed a larger roof encompassing the new front porch. We moved the entry foyer to the addition freeing up space inside and were able to nearly double the size of the living room. There are architectural features that contribute to the classic Southern porch aesthetic: a Bevolo gas lantern, blue tongue-and-groove wood ceiling, and exposed rafter tails to match the original architecture.  To really maximize the views looking out to the park, we dropped the front window sills and installed triple full height windows that lead from the living room to the new front porch. These new custom Spanish Cedar windows give a panoramic view of the park from the family’s living room.

At the rear of the house, we created a new master suite with his and hers closets. The new bathroom has a private walk-in shower, a soaking tub under new windows, and sleek sink vanities. In extending the rear of the house, we were able to give this family a walk-in laundry room.

Our goal was to add on to the house in a way that looks original. This project was a great collaboration with Mary Lib Cole and beautifully constructed by Schneider Construction. Our clients now have a flowing floor plan, expansive views of the park, and a front porch to enjoy the wonderful location.
